Abbey Meyers
Motivated by a son with Tourette's syndrome, Abby Meyers helped create a way to encourage drug manufacturers to create drugs for rare diseases. These "orphan drugs" now constitute nearly half the new drugs introduced each year. Abbey went on to found the National Organization for Rare Disorders, NORD, which funds research, supplies medication, and is a clearing house for issues surrounding rare diseases.
