LOWELL DARLING -- BIO FROM CHILDHOOD

1944: -Painted Grandfather’s racehorse hooves red: fingernail polish. Age two.
1946: -Painted family car with brooms and house paint.
- Live innocuous life of Preacher’s son. Normal childhood….
1955: -Faked clarinet, 7th grade band class.
1956: -Correspond with Norman Rockwell. In answer to a letter from Darling, Rockwell explains that as a young artist he couldn’t control the destiny of his work until he became recognised....

Prescribed glasses (before then everything was a blob) 1950
Got first camera from Smith Bros. box top and 50 cents. 1952
Played drums, elementry school band. Was dropped from band. 1952
Moved to Honolulu, reasonably average childhood 1953-63
Won 1st Place Honolulu Kite Contest 1955
Shot for first time with 35mm still camera 1956
Installed dark room in bedroom closet 1956...
