Brian Berman
By the time Brian Berman was four years old, he had a severely distended abdomen. His life was threatened by Gaucher. Given an experimental treatment in Dr. Brady's lab at NIH, Brian became the first person for whom enzyme replacement showed consistently positive results. Because he was very small and the other 6 subjects were full size adults, the small dose Brian received worked. Brian is now married, has three children, and is a partner in Berman Enterprises, a real estate development firm.
